Science isn’t just lab coats and test tubes!
Citizen science is a growing movement, and all you need is a love of nature to participate. Here at the Muskoka Conservancy, we call our citizen science initiative Project Protect. Our goal is to gain a better understanding of various species on our nature reserves as well as glean crucial information on the state of our lands, lakes and forests here in Muskoka.
We rely on volunteers to help survey and record bird and frog species on nine of our protected properties. Expertise in identifying these species is helpful, but we also need individuals to simply record what we see and hear – all volunteers are welcome! Training provided.
If you have any questions about the program or are interested in becoming more involved, please contact Amanda Porter at info@muskokaconservancy.org or call 705-645-7393 ext 207.
