Product Details

Botanical Name: Corylus americana

Drainage: Average, medium, well-drained

Sun: PSh to FS

Mature Height: 3.5 m

Planting Location: Open woodland gardens or prairies where it can be allowed to spread. May also be used as a screen or shrub border.

Fruits/Flowers: The male flowers are very conspicuous light brown catkins. Female flowers give way to small, edible nuts (maturing July-August) which are encased in leafy, husk-like, ragged-edged bracts.

Deer Resistant: moderate
