Description: Are you looking to slither into nature this month? Join our Field Placement student, Leah Lewis, at Muskoka Conservancy’s Silver Doe Nature Reserve for a Hike for Herpetofauna! Whether you are passionate about all things scales and scutes or just need a reason to spend more time in nature, come join us to learn more about the amphibians and reptiles native to Muskoka!
Leah Lewis Bio: Leah is a recent graduate of the Ecosystem Management Technician program at Fleming College and a dedicated volunteer with Muskoka Conservancy and Scales Nature Park. Over the past four years, Leah has immersed herself in reptile and amphibian monitoring in central Ontario, with a particular focus on road ecology. As a field naturalist, Leah is passionate about environmental conservation, education and sustainable land-use practices that promote both human and wildlife health and well-being.
What to bring:
- Appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather, bug nets highly recommended!
- Water and a snack
- Allergy or other emergency medicine if needed
- Binoculars or a camera are recommended
