Nelson Head Nature Reserve
Located in Huntsville, the Nelson Head Nature Reserve was donated in 2011 and provides natural greenspace within a residential area of town. The terrain is gently rolling with mature trees, a stream, and exposed bedrock. The property represents an excellent mix of tolerant and mid-tolerant trees.
The property is named after Nelson Head, who worked in the lumber camps and on log drives along the Big East River during the early 1900s. The property was a homestead and has been in the Head family since 1921. Remnants of the buildings are still present on the property.
