Healthy Trees Stewardship Program

HT stewardship prgm

Muskoka Conservancy’s Healthy Trees Stewardship Program was established, in 2014, in partnership with Westwind Forest Stewardship Inc. and supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The program connects individual property owners to forestry professionals and encourages healthy forest stewardship in the Muskoka region.

We recognize that there are programs available to landowners who have larger properties (e.g., the 50 Million Tree Program for 1 hectare properties, and the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) for properties 4 hectares in size); however, nothing equivalent is available to owners of smaller properties. The Healthy Trees Stewardship Program supports healthy forest stewardship by promoting best practices and offering advice to private landowners who otherwise have no access to the forestry community.

Do you have questions about the health of your forest – large or small? Are you interested in advice to help address concerns including invasive species and tree diseases? We would be happy to help! Our personalized landowner consultations involve meeting at your property, discussing the concerns you have regarding your forest, and offering advice to help address your questions. These visits are typically about an hour in length, and our qualified volunteers will provide project resources if required. Visits can be arranged to accommodate your schedule.

Landowner consultations fee – $100
